NYC Street Fair – Japan Festival
On August 23rd, we had a performance at a street fair in Manhattan. We played for one hour on a stage on the Japanese block of the fair. The performance was popular. The audience grooved to the music we played. The members were Saburo Ochiai, Nobuko Miyazaki (bamboo Flute), Nobu Kinjyo, Morio Shiroma (previous president of OAANY), and NY Sanshin Shinka. The first song was ‘Kashikaki’, a classical Okinawan song, performed solo by Mr. Ochiai. Then he played a few more classical songs. Hi every one, Wow! Where does the time go! It’s already been one month since our picnic. Fortunately, we missed the rain and were blessed with wonderful weather for our event. Once again we had a great turnout, approximately 150 adults and children participated in our annual picnic. Thank you all for attending ! Special thanks to Hiro Keitora, Ivan & Koji Kikuyama, Jason Aguilos and Sonoko Niswander san who volunteered to arrive at the park at 7 a.m. to reserve our picnic site.
